General Remarks

This former Portuguese colony became independent on September 10, 1974.

According to the currently available information, all the applications filed for the O.A.P.I. countries from July 8, 1998, extensively cover Guinea-Bissau, but the necessary provisions relating to the extension of prior O.A.P.I.’s trademarks to Guinea-Bissau are still missing, since the relevant regulations are not yet available.

In fact, it is expected that a substantial time may still elapse until the required regulations come into force.
