Fish, shrimp, groundnuts, palm kernels, sawn lumber. Cashew nuts (90,000 tons exported per year) is an important income source. The country now ranks sixth in cashew production.

General Remarks
This former Portuguese colony became independent on September 10, 1974.
According to the currently available information, all the applications filed for the OAPI countries from July 8, 1998, extensively cover Guinea-Bissau, but the necessary provisions relating to the extension of prior OAPI’s trademarks to Guinea-Bissau are still missing, since the relevant regulations are not yet available.
In fact, it is expected that a substantial time may still elapse until the required regulations come into force.
