Legal Basis

Filing
Procedure: substantially the same as for “patents“.
Definition: an invention qualifies for a utility model certificate if it is new and is industrially applicable (in addition to the foregoing, an invention must also involve an inventive step).
Filing requirements: substantially the same as for “patents“.
Protection
Duration: seven years.
Extension of term: cannot be extended.
Renewals: annually, commencing on the first anniversary of filing.
Restoration: no provision.
