There is no specific legislation although some regulations on the organization and management of country code top-level domain names do exist.

Filing

Country code top-level domain name: .hk (also available in Chinese).

Sub-domains: .com.hk; .edu.hk; .gov.hk; .org.hk; .idv.hk; .net.hk 

Applicant: individuals and legal entities.

Restriction as to nationality: none.

Local presence: required (except .hk). Registrants are required to show evidence of domicile in Hong Kong.

Domestic trademark right: not required for obtaining domain name registration.

Domain name can be registered as a trademark: yes.

Registration, Protection

Duration: one to five years, depending on the contract.

Renewal/maintenance: one to five years, depending on the contract, renewable.

Dispute about ownership: can be brought before the court.

Uniform dispute resolution procedure: available (variation of UDRP) before the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
