Protection

Registration is not required for owners of an original work. Copyright protection is automatic and free from the moment a work is created. However, registration is possible and provides important benefits such as proof of ownership and helps deter infringement. 

Duration: (a) the protection period for author's financial rights is the duration of his lifetime, plus 50 years after his death; (b) the protection period for applied arts is 25 years counted from its completion date; (c) for cinematic and television production works the protection period is 50 years counted from the date of publication; (d) for works whose author or right holder is a corporate, or for works published for the first time after the death of the author, and works that do not carry the name of the author or carry a pseudonym, the protection period is 50 years from the date of publication.
