Protection

Registration is not required for owners of an original work. Copyright protection is automatic and free from the moment a work is created. It is, however, possible to deposit a copyright work with the Copyright Protection Office. The Office will keep the application in their custody until the issuance of the implementing regulations of the law. 

Filing requirements: (1) a detailed specification of the work (to be copied on CD); (2) power of attorney (duly legalized up to a Qatari Consulate); (3) a brief summary about the work. 

Duration: during the lifetime of the author, plus 50 years after his death.
