General Remarks

On December 2, 1971, the birth of the United Arab Emirates was announced. The United Arab Emirates is a Federation of seven former Trucial States in the Gulf, i.e. Abu-Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al-Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al-Quwain, located along the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The coasts extend 700 km along the Arabian Gulf, which is a typical coastal land with numerous inlets, sandbanks, and small offshore islands in shallow waters.

Abu-Dhabi is the capital of the Union whereas Dubai is the active commercial center of the region. Summer days are hot; humidity increases in June, July and August. Winter days are very pleasant and moderate and are characterized by clear sky.
