Protection

Registration is not required for owners of an original work. Copyright protection is automatic and free from the moment a work is created, further there is no copyright register in Austria.

Duration: for literary and artistic works, and musical art during the lifetime of the author, plus 70 years after his death. Photographic works are protected for 50 years from taking the photo, or where the photograph is made public before the expiry of that term, 50 years after publication.
