Protection

Registration is not required for owners of an original work. Copyright protection is automatic and free from the moment a work is created. However, there is a voluntary registration system where right owners can voluntarily deposit their work with the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP).

Duration: during the lifetime of the author, plus 50 years after his death.

Note: in some cases (mostly in public interest), it is possible to use protected works of copyright and related rights without the consent of the copyright holder, but with the payment of remuneration to him in accordance with the established procedure (collective management), according to the Law of the Republic of Belarus of January 3, 2023 "On the limitation of exclusive rights to intellectual property" and changes to the Law of the Republic of Belarus No. 262-Z of May 26, 2011 on Copyright and Related Rights.
