Definition: a trade secret is information: (1) which is not as a whole or the exact composition and combination of its parts generally known or easily accessible to persons who normally process such information; (2) which has economic value in commercial activities due to it being secret; and (3) whose legal owner has taken reasonable steps to protect it.
