The Georgian Patent Law includes provisions on utility models.

The examination regarding local novelty is carried out for utility models after the formal examination within one month; then the decision of grant is issued. The criterion of the patentability of a utility model is the lesser inventive step, novelty and industrial applicability. Unfavorable decisions can be granted upon the same grounds as for patents.

Duration: ten years from the filing date.
