– Topography Act No. 78/1993, in force since May 18, 1993, with subsequent amendments.

Filing: is not required.

Condition of protection: the topography must be novel, in part or as a whole.

Rights of protection: belong to the author of the topography or his legal successor. Right of protection benefits Icelandic citizens or companies doing business in Iceland. The Ministry of Industry can decree that right of protection also benefits citizens of countries, which recognize Icelandic rights. 

Duration: ten years from the first commercial use or fifteen years from the first appearance if the topography has not been commercially used.
