Protection

Registration is not required for owners of an original work. Copyright protection is automatic and free from the moment a work is created. However, the Belize IP Office allows copyright owners the opportunity to deposit their works with the Office. 

Duration: (a) for literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works: during the lifetime of the author, plus 50 years after his death; (b) for sound recordings, films, broadcasts and cable programs: 50 years from the end of the calendar year when the work was created.
