Protection

Copyright protection is automatic when a work is created by an individual. However, if a corporation or any other legal entity besides an individual wishes to obtain copyright protection, it should do so by first obtaining a written assignment of rights from the author or coauthors.

Duration: copyright protection lasts the lifetime of the author plus 80 years after his death. But if the copyright has been assigned to a corporation it lasts 70 years following the publication date of the work.
