Legal Basis
There is no specific legislation although some regulations on the organization and management of country code top-level domain names do exist.
Filing
Country code top-level domain name: .cw
Sub-domains: .com.cw; .edu.cw; .org.cw; .net.cw
Applicant: individuals and domestic organizations.
Restriction as to nationality: yes.
Local presence: required. Organizations or entities requesting a .cw domain name must present official documents proving their official local presence in Curaçao. For example this could be a registration at the local Chamber of Commerce ("Kamer van Koophandel"). For entities or organizations not registered on the island or who are not registered at the Chamber of Commerce, third-level domain names are made available (for instance .com.cw, .org.cw, .net.cw etc.).
Domestic trademark right: not required for obtaining domain name registration.
Domain name can be registered as a trademark: possible as a word mark.
Registration, Protection
Duration: two years.
Renewal/maintenance: one year, renewable.
Dispute about ownership: to be brought before the Domain Name Registry.
Uniform dispute resolution procedure: available (arbitration based on the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration in the English language (Article 1020 Code of Civil Procedure)).
