Protection

Registration is not required for owners of an original work. Copyright protection is automatic and free from the moment a work is created, further there is no copyright register in Bermuda. 

Duration: (a) for written, dramatic, musical and artistic works: during the lifetime of the author, plus 70 years after his death; (b) for sound and music recordings: 70 years from when it is first published; (c) for films: 70 years after the death of the director, author of screenplay, author of dialogue and composer; (d) for broadcasts: 50 years from when it is first produced; (e) for layout of published editions of written, dramatic or musical works: 25 years from when it is first published.
