Filing

Type of patents: patents granted in the United Kingdom or in Europe effective in the United Kingdom may be registered in Tuvalu, provided application is made within three years from the date of grant of the U.K. patent.

Remark on IP implications of the U.K.'s exit from the European Union on January 31, 2020: the U.K.'s position as a contracting State of the European Patent Office (EPO) is not affected by the U.K.'s withdrawal from the EU, and European (U.K.) patents will continue to be obtainable through the EPO route.

Applicant: the owner of a U.K. patent or a European patent effective in the U.K.

Filing requirements:
1. Application;
2. Power of attorney, signed by applicant;
3. Certified copy of the specification and drawings of the U.K. patent or European patent effective in the U.K.;
4. Certificate of the Comptroller General or an officer duly authorized of the U.K. Intellectual Property Office giving full particulars of the U.K. patent or European patent effective in the U.K.
