Legal Basis
There is no specific legislation on country code top-level domain names.
Filing
Country code top-level domain name: .jo (in English), and .alordon (in Arabic).
Sub-domains: .mil.jo; .com.jo; .edu.jo; .gov.jo; .org.jo; .net.jo; .name.jo .sch.jo; .per.jo; .phd.jo
Applicant: companies and organizations.
Restriction as to nationality: none.
Local presence: not required, but a local representative must be appointed. The domain name must reflect the whole name of the company/organization or part of it, derived from it as a whole, or a trademark owned by the company. Applicants are eligible for an Arabic domain name registration in Jordan only if they already own a Jordanian domain name under .jo or its variant.
Domestic trademark right: required for obtaining domain name registration.
Domain name can be registered as a trademark: yes.
Registration, Protection
Duration: one year for English and Arabic domain names.
Renewal/maintenance: one year, renewable.
Dispute about ownership: to be brought before the court.
